PISANKI EGGS

Pisanki Eggs are not for sale.

Pisanki eggs are a Polish tradition that span over a thousand years. A kistka, (funneled stylus,) beeswax, dyes, and eggs are used to create intricate lines, colors and designs on the ever-changing surface of the egg.

For years I studied the masters of Pisanki to understand my own Polish heritage better so that I may be a better ally to people with different ancestral backgrounds. Below are a few of the hundreds of eggs created during this time of study. Through the exploration of Pisanki, I learned about the priorities of some Polish Catholic people such as family and home. I learned about their connection with the natural world and how that developed into farming and Catholic traditions.

The craft itself taught me how to delegate, be patient, and use my intuition.
